Kaiju No. 9 appears for the third time, splitting in two and overwhelming the Defense Force. Kafka and Kikoru fight together to stop its first body, but its constant evolution during combat means it’s all they can do to keep up. Then Kafka fails to transform into Kaiju No. 8! In a moment of terrible danger, Kikoru remembers a promise she made with her mother, Hikari Shinomiya... Meanwhile, Narumi engages in a tremendous battle with the second body of Kaiju No. 9.
